Would your school like to become a School of Sanctuary? Come to our meeting…

Tuesday, 10th October – 4-5pm  @ Avenue Junior School

Following a very successful launch in June at which the first seven schools in the county were recognised as Schools of Sanctuary, we are looking for new schools interested in working towards the award and joining the Norwich Schools of Sanctuary network.

We are building a network of Schools of Sanctuary across Norfolk to share resources and ideas that will help our pupils make sense of the refugee crisis and also empower them to support refugees, asylum seekers and other groups of immigrants in our local communities.

You can find more information about the award scheme here and more about the City of Sanctuary movement, of which we are a part, here.

We have many exciting plans for the year. In April we will be holding a day of action in schools across Norfolk for which we will provide ideas and learning resources. We are also in discussions with Anglia Ruskin University and the research team behind Come Yew In! about developing lesson plans and teaching materials that explore Norwich’s rich history as a city of sanctuary.

If your school is interested in becoming a School of Sanctuary, please come along to our meeting or get in touch to find out more.
