Harriet Cox, and the lovely people at the Norfolk Education Library Service, has come up with a book list to support schools as they explore the experiences of sanctuary seekers with their pupils.
Books and stories can be a brilliant starting point for discussions in school and a way to get children to empathise with the experiences of displaced people.
The booklist has recommendations for pupils in Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3.
In the updated version of the booklist, Harriet has also included a range of wordless ‘silent’ books.
For the cost of one Norfolk Education Library Service token, Harriet and the team will carefully select a range of books to support your Schools of Sanctuary work and loan them to your school for a set period of time.
We highly recommend that you take advantage of their expertise, experience and extensive book catalogue!
